As noted by the author, this book is suppose to be the start of a new arc in the Undead series. The story is a bit darker, which is a nice change, and Betsy is starting to act more mature and tries to act like a responsible queen. Yet, this installment is flat compared to books 1-3, which are the best ones in my opinion. For one, Undead and Unworthy isn't as funny or as fun, and two, most of the characters are starting to become way too annoying or obnoxious. Oh and about the new cover art that's for the U.S. edition, I don't like it. I like the colorful covers better. They fitted in with the quirkiness of the series.
