Every book is a new journey to embark on. I mainly read romances, but I dabble in other genres too.
Series Review of Magic Knight Rayearth I
Cliched, but it's a manga worth reading, especially if you like CLAMP's work. The art is beautiful as always, and I like the characters designs. I thought it was interesting how the authors worked in mech suits into a fantasy story, because I never encountered that before. At some points though, I found it hard to tell what's going on in the fighting scenes, but it's not too bad.
As for the story, it's ok. Like I said before it's cliched. The protagonists get magical powers, there's a cute magical animal sidekick, they have to go on a journey and get stronger to save the world... so and so forth. But hey, it's cute. I can't hate it. The characters weren't irritating. I liked them, and even though they quickly, super quickly became friends, I thought it was admirable how they were looking out for each other and defending one another. But what really made the manga worth it for me was the ending, because it was completely surprising. I won't spoil it outright, but I will say that it leaves on a solemn note, and I liked that. It's something different
