Every book is a new journey to embark on. I mainly read romances, but I dabble in other genres too.

Wizard of Oz: Puffin Graphic Classic

The Wizard of Oz - Mike Cavallaro, L. Frank Baum

I would say that this is an average adaptation of The Wizard of Oz into a graphic novel. It gets major points for following the original novel instead of the movie, and it does it pretty closely. I'm just not wowed by the art, because it doesn't have the same charm as the story. The characters designs were bland. I wasn't bothered by the minor modern updates like Dorothy wearing pants and a hoodie, but she still looked dull. The witches (good and wicked) didn't look witchlike or magical at all.

I would say you're better off reading the original without even bothering with this, but I could see this graphic novel as being a good way to expose classics to younger kids, perhaps middle-schoolers.
