Every book is a new journey to embark on. I mainly read romances, but I dabble in other genres too.
However the movie is very light on plot. I got bored watching halfway through, because over and over all you see is Marie Antoinette party party partying and living the lavish lifestyle.
The use of modern music was a little distracting. For instance, the "I Want Candy" song plays while Marie is showered with all kinds of goodies like shoes, dresses, and deserts. It's my understanding that the director was trying to connect to a younger audience and wanted to portray Marie Antoinette like a modern teenager. Therefore, modern music would make sense for her vision. It's just too bad that it didn't totally work, because the pop music sometimes stands out too much.
I'd say maybe it's worth a rental if you like looking at pretty costumes.
